On Wednesday 6th July the Naked Element team joined the Norfolk Chambers of Commerce for a morning of breakfast and networking.
After general networking and a brief introduction from the chamber team, came the “Speed networking”. Individuals were each given an envelope listing 5 rounds and a table number that we were on for each round. Each round lasted only a few short minutes, giving us enough time to engage with new people and introduce ourselves and companies. At the end of each round we were called to move to the next table with a new set of people. This formation gave the chance for personal growth, new contacts and possible referrals. It also proved an exciting atmosphere and a great way to build relationships.
Guest speaker Lynn Walters, Director at Pure Resourcing Solutions, delivered a great presentation explaining what employees in today’s world are looking for from employers. She also discussed how to retain top talent within your organisation and what newly qualified employees find the most attractive working environments.
We also heard from Great Yarmouth College who identified the rapid growth of apprenticeships and how they are available in a range of careers with employers across a wide area. Having two apprentices at Naked Element already we were pleased to see the increasing popularity of them in our area.
Being new to Naked Element this is one of my first networking events. I thoroughly enjoyed the structure and the atmosphere of the morning as there was little pressure approaching people with the formation of set tables and being in small groups. The breakfast may I say was amazing too.
I found both speeches to be very enlightening and relevant as an apprentice and new employee myself. It was a great way of encouragement to talk to lots of new faces and an enjoyable morning for the whole team.
