On Wednesday 27th July the team joined Norwich Theatre Royal for an afternoon of networking in an exciting environment, accompanied by Tom Alabaster who started work experience for Naked Element on the previous Monday.
The event was a great chance to see lots of old faces and certainly lots of new ones. It was a great opportunity to witness the flourishing business community that Norwich and Norfolk offer.
Shortly after 12pm casual networking commenced with a constant flow of beautiful savoury treats and wine. The cheese straws alone could justify the entry fee! But on a serious note a very welcoming, light hearted and fun event for those who feel more pressure networking than some.
At the end of the general networking came speeches from a couple of the Mary Poppins crew who enlightened us with the link between the theatre world and the business world.
To begin with both speeches from the Mary Poppins Director Nick Evans and Neil Roberts who plays Mr. Banks seemed entirely comical, managing to make every person in the room chuckle. However it wasn’t long into the speeches that we discovered the connection they were making, which wasn’t just Mr. Banks humouring us as he once forgot his line “supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.” But in fact made the point that we all make mistakes and we should not focus on the mistake itself, but how we deal with it and turn it into a positive.
Both the Director and Mr. Banks evidently showed their passion for theatre and the hard work they put in to create the best performance and experience for the audience. It was really great to see the excitement both speakers felt about the magical story of the world’s favourite Nanny arriving on Cherry Tree Lane and the dedication that had gone into adapting the wonderful story.
Thank you to the staff at Norwich Theatre Royal for putting on a great event and for a comical and educational lunch.
